The old Telegraph building located in Gülhane Park in Sûr-ı Sultanî, was re-functionalized as Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin History of Islamic Sciences’ Research Library. During the design phase, it was considered to establish a relationship extending from the interior between the existing building, the historical city walls and the nature of Gülhane Park. It was planned to ensure that the feeling of being in a quiet working environment for the users was provided with the basic architectural elements to be used in interior design. With the mezzanine layout created with the new structure and the exposed wooden roof trusses, it was aimed to create a spacious space perception for the users. The research library was included in the archist 2018 shortlist.
